Charlie Egan

Picture
Charlie Egan is a senior undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill double majoring in Business Administration and Environmental Studies, with a focus on Energy & Sustainability.  At UNC, he is Co-Chair of the Renewable Energy Special Projects Committee (RESPC), a student government organization that invests student fees in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy education projects on campus.  His most recent project brought eighteen solar equipped umbrellas with phone charging capabilities to high traffic areas of campus in order to raise energy awareness.  Off campus, he is an active board member for a start-up non-profit, United Solar Initiative (USI), which works to provide solar energy solutions to energy and water poverty-stricken communities in the U.S. and internationally.  With USI, he has traveled to Nicaragua and installed solar panels and LED lighting on schools and community centers with no previous access to electricity.  He’s from Raleigh, North Carolina and has work experience at the North Carolina Clean Energy Technology Center in Raleigh and GE Capital Energy Financial Services in Stamford, Connecticut.  In his free time, he enjoys playing sports and hanging with friends.
