Kerry is a PhD candidate in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota -- Twin Cities who focuses on mathematical modeling of crystal growth processes. Currently, he is a co-President of the UMN Energy Club. He earned his BS in Chemical Engineering at Rice University in Houston, TX. There, he explored academic research in physical and computational chemistry in addition to serving as the VP of Engineering for the university's first solar car team. While Kerry has an extensive engineering background, he is also strongly interested in the non-technical tools – sociology, policy, economics, etc. – that can be used to create a healthier planet and more equitable society. In his free time, Kerry keeps busy with a variety of DIY projects, many of which aim to reduce his ecological footprint.
