Maria is a student at Cornell University studying business with a
concentration in environmental, energy, and resource economics.
Originally hailing from Reading, Pennsylvania, she spent her first
summer on the West Coast developing agricultural greenhouse gas
ofsets for California's cap-and-trade program with the Environmental
Defense Fund and interned at the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative,
Inc. (RGGI), the first carbon market in the United States, in 2013.
On September 21st, she took to the streets of New York City as a lead
organizer for over 130 Cornellians participating in the People's Climate
March, and on campus, she co-founded the nation's first ever
academically integrated and student-run Green Revolving Fund, creating over $270,000 in savings over seven years, from an initial investment of $7,000.
