Stern Energy Club- NYU Stern School of Business
Overview:
The Stern Energy Club's mission is to provide our members and the Stern community with educational, career and networking opportunities within the highly relevant and dynamic energy industry. While energy has always been a vital and contentious part of our economy, never before has it been so important to have a fundamental understanding of how energy can affect an organization’s mission as well as its bottom line. As such, the Stern Energy Club aims to bring together individuals from all parts of this industry - traditional, renewable, financing, operations and those that want to learn more about how energy can affect their business - to provide a forum not only for career advancement, but also for educational and informative experiences.

University Background: New York University

New York University, founded in 1831, is a private, comprehensive institution. Offering more than 2,500 courses, the undergraduate program aims to cultivate inquiry, creativity, and independent ambition in all students, and to challenge them intellectually, professionally, and personally. The main campus, located in Greenwich Village in Manhattan, has no walls or gates to maintain a connection to the surrounding city. Fourteen smaller schools within the university maintain their own traditions, programs, and faculty. NYU also has branch campuses in 10 countries on four continents, including Abu Dhabi, UAE.
NYU is developing its energy community. The school's Office of Sustainability manages an impressive cogeneration plant on its Washington Square campus, and is committed to reducing its consumption, but the school has yet to build out its educational resources on energy within any of its departments. There are budding centers at the school that have an incredible potential to develop their energy programs- notably, the graduate Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP) and Center for the Sustainable Built Environment. The school also houses several incubators, including the NYC Accelerator for a Clean and Renewable Economy.
