Sam Hayden is a senior in the Mechanical Engineering program at Brigham Young University, Provo. While in school he works for a local company designing, developing, and prototyping a variety of innovative consumer products. Sam spent the summer with a Silicon Valley based commercial solar company in their engineering department. His work included commercial solar design and the development of new tools to optimize the solar power systems. On campus Sam has worked in a fluid dynamics research lab and led a team through the Human Centered Design process for a local start up working to strengthen the local community. Sam is currently a member of BYU’s Social Innovation Leadership Council seeking to help effectively apply Human Centered Design and teach it to as many people as possible. He loves spending time with his wife, hiking, reading, skateboarding, and when location allows, surfing.
