Zach Gima is an MS/PhD student in the Advanced Manufacturing for Energy Group in the Mechanical Engineering Department at UC Berkeley. In the local community, Zach is an active member in the Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative, Energy Access SF, and GRID Alternatives. Additionally, Zach is one of the lead engineers on the THIMBY@Berkeley project, a student-led effort aiming to provide affordable, environmentally conscious housing in the Richmond area for students, faculty, and residents at the upcoming Berkeley Global Campus.
After graduating from the University of Southern California in 2014 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, he co-founded a company called Symbio Robotics that is currently a member of theSkyDeck | Berkeley accelerator program. Some of his other past experiences include research in demand response and serving as an Engineers Without Borders Project Manager for water projects in Honduras. Outside of his lab, Zach enjoys playing rugby, going to concerts, perfecting pour over coffee, and cooking.
